In Jaipur

Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, was founded in 1727 AD by one of the greatest rulers of the Kachhawaha clan, the astronomer king Sawai Jai Singh. The pink color was used at the time of making to create an impression of red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities – and repainted in 1876, during the visit of the Prince of Wales. The city is best explored on foot and the adventurous visitor willing to go into the inner lanes can discover a whole new world not visible to the tourist-in-a-hurry.

  • Morning (0800hrs) excursion to Amber Fort including elephant ride. Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the State until 1728. Visit the Jagmandir or the Hall of victory glittering with mirrors, Jai Mahal and Temple of Kali. Ascend on Elephant back, the hill, on which the fort is situated.
  • Afternoon (1400 hrs) city tour of Jaipur, Maharaja’s City Palace, the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), the Royal Observatory, Albert Hall. Later, drive through this “Pink City’s” business and residential areas.

Jaipur – Fatehpur Sikri - Agra By Coach

  • Morning (0830 hrs) drive to Agra (234 km / 146 miles / approx 5 hrs drive) en route visiting Fatehpur Sikri. 38 km before Agra, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water.

In Agra

The Taj Mahal was built by the third Mughal emperor of India, Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died during childbirth. Although it is not known for sure who planned the Taj Mahal, the name of an Indian architect of Persian descent, Ustad Ahmad Lahori, has been cited in many sources. As soon as construction began in 1630, masons, craftsmen, sculptors, and calligraphers were summoned from Persia, the Ottoman Empire, and Europe to work on the masterpiece. It took 12 years of hard labour and 20,000 labourers to build the mausoleum.

  • Afternoon (1400 hrs) visit the Agra Fort near the gardens of the Taj Mahal stands the important 16th-century Mughal monument known as the Red Fort of Agra. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful mosques.

Agra – Jhansi by Train And Drive To Khajuraho

  • In time transfer (0730 hrs) to station to board Shatabdi Express at 0815/1045 hrs for Jhansi.
  • Assistance on arrival and drive to Khajuraho (170 km / 106 miles / approx 4 hrs drive) en route visiting Orchha.
  • Orchha‘s grandeur has been captured in stone, frozen in time; a rich legacy to the ages. For, on this medieval city, the hand of time has rested lightly and the palaces and temple built by its Bundela rulers in the 16th and 17th centuries retain much of their pristine perfection.

The other temples in this group are those dedicated to Brahma, Yamuna and Adinath.

In Varanasi

Varanasi- As old a city as Babylon, Varanasi is one of the holiest pilgrimage centres of India. Here, mornings begin with prayers at the ghats, a holy dip and the tinkling of temple bells. It bustles with people whose lives are concentrated on being good Hindus. Social events mean religious festivals. This is a city soaked in devotion.

  • Early Morning (0630 hrs) boat cruise on the holy river Ganges to see the Bathing ghats and Cremation site. Watching people bathing and worshipping at the Ghats is one of the most extraordinary experiences of a visit to India.
  • Return to hotel for Breakfast.
  • Morning (1000 hrs) city tour of Varanasi, visiting the Bharat Mata Temple with a big relief map of India in marble, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir, Banaras Hindu University which has an Art Gallery and the Mosque of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
  • Afternoon (1400 hrs) excursion to Sarnath, the buried Buddhist city where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon, Sarnath was a renowned school of learning from 6th century B.C. to 12th century A.D. Visit the ruins, the stupa, the Buddhist temple and the Museum (Museum closed on Fridays).
  • Overnight at hotel.

Varanasi – Bodhgaya By Coach

The life of Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, is associated with the small town of Bodhgaya. It is one of the four holiest cities of Buddhist faith. The Mahabodhi temple is the main attraction of this town and is located near the spot where Lord Buddha attained spiritual enlightenment. Bodhgaya is not only an important Buddhist pilgrim center, but it is also an important center for the study of Buddhism.

  • Morning (0900 hrs) drive to Bodhgaya (255 km / 160 miles / approx 5 hrs drive)
  • Upon arrival, check-in at hotel
  • Afternoon (1430 hrs) visit to Mahabodhi Temple and Bodhi tree, Great Buddha Statue, Niranjana River, Sujata Temple – which is just across the Niranjana River and it is just 30 mins walk through the paddy fields. The rest of the day will be visiting other Buddhist temples in Bodhagaya.
  • Evening (1900 hrs) visit the main temple and join the prayer ceremony and attend Prayer ceremony at the Mahabodhi Temple.

Bodhgaya - Varanasi by Coach

  • Early morning (0630 hrs) visit the Main temple and the sites around the temple, The bodhi tree, 07 holy spots where Buddha spent one week (at each spot) after he was enlightened. Return to Hotel for breakfast and later visit the 80 mtrs high Budha Statue, and Niranjana river bank. Cross the river and walk in the village area to visit the Sujata village-A pilgrimage centre for Budhist. Sujata was the lady who offered rice and Milk to Gautama while he was meditating on the bank of the river Niranjana One can also visit the Buddhist Monasteries.
  • Return to hotel for breakfast.

Also visit Raj Ghat – the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, Jama Masjid and drive past Red Fort and Chandni Chowk, shopping centre of Old Delhi.

Depart Delhi

The sightseeing and activities were better than we even thought! I still can’t believe we did so much in such a short time, but we did not feel stressed. We really loved the tour and would do it all over again in a minute! Thanks.
